Description

Apostles An Apostle is one who establishes churches all over the world.  One sent forth and were given the responsibility to equip saints for ministry within the church as well as minister to their surrounding community.  Sometimes called Missionaries.  (Heb. 3:1, Matt. 28:19-20, Eph. 2:20, 4:11-12, 1 Cor. 15:9, 2 Cor. 12:12, 2 Tim. 1:11)
Prophets The spiritual ability to speak forth the mind and counsel of God.  The Old Testament Prophet was also called a seer and a watchman.  They can point to the past and future, and tie them together with the present.  They were also used by God to speak toIsraelabout current and future events.  Prophets usually operates heavily in “Word of Knowledge” and “Word of Wisdom” gifts. (Deut. 1:8-18, Acts 2:17-18, 22-23, 11:27-28, 21:9-11, Eph. 4:11-12, 1 Cor. 14:3, 23-25)
Teachers The spiritual ability to take the truth from the Word of God and explain it clearly so that the flock of God can understand it and apply those spiritual truths effectively to their daily lives.  The teacher brings balance into the Body of Christ. (Acts 18:24-28, 2 Tim. 1:11)
Miracles The spiritual ability to be enabled by God to perform mighty deeds which witnesses acknowledge to be of supernatural origin and means.  Natural or supernatural events with precise timing to bring glory to God.  Faith of the person who had the gift of performing miracles was not required. It didn’t depend on how strong or weak his personal faith was. It depended upon God the Holy Spirit to get the job done. God the Holy Spirit performed the miracles through the one who had the gift of miracles. (Mark 6:52, John 2:11,23, 2 Cor. 12:10, 12)
Gifts of Healings The spiritual ability to heal one who is sick. Note that Paul called it the gifts (plural) of healings which may mean this gifted person could make one who is sick whole—either spiritually, emotionally, or physically.  Physical healing is a symbol of how God wants to heal all of us spiritually. (Acts 3:2-10)
Helps The spiritual ability to come alongside others and support them and their ministry in physical ways. The Ministry of Helps is supportive or instituted assistance to complete the mission or work of God assigned to another. (Acts 6:2-7, Romans 16:6-12)
Governments / Administration The spiritual ability to steer the body toward the accomplishment of God-given goals and directives by planning, organizing, and supervising others. The gift of “administrations” directed and managed people within the local church. The word “administrations” is a naval metaphor and literally means to steer, pilot a ship. This person keeps the ship of the church on its course.  (Acts 15, 27:11)
Diversities of Tongues The spiritual ability to speak an unknown foreign language without learning it beforehand.  The gift of tongues is to be used publicly to bring praise to God, to edify the body of believers, and to be used as a sign of judgment against unbelievers. (Acts 2:3-13, 1 Corinthians 14)
